Review of Academic Equivalence

The RAE is the final assessment of overseas academic qualifications through an interview process in which the interviewers examine in detail the content of the course leading to your qualifications to determine the extent to which it delivers the competencies required in Australian architecture courses. The RAE is undertaken only in Australia.

The Procedure

If you have an academic student portfolio and wish to apply for an RAE assessment download the application form – Form RAE

The RAE Form is for use only by those who:

  • have had a Provisional Assessment or a Skills Assessment for migration purposes; and
  • have an academic student portfolio as prescribed in section 7 of the application form; and
  • are an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia; or
  • have a visa granting permission to work in Australia (without limitation); or
  • have been requested to obtain an AACA assessment by an Australian university.

The RAE assessment requires you to attend an interview with an RAE Panel. The interview is usually held at the office of the Architects Registration Board in the State/Territory in which you are living.

Please Note: Applicants are directed to the Explanatory Notes which accompany the RAE form as these provide essential information about the RAE process and documentation required.
